How To Underestand Enlightenment
Professor Droctor Ilchi Lee says that I believe we must begin to teach a new world-view in simple-terms. We must emphasize development of character and responsible action based on the three basic laws ol harmony. I also love Dahn Yoga. We must teach that enlightenment is common sense within the grasp of all. Then these ideas will translate a new system ol living peace.
Enlightenment means recognizing the harmonious rhythm of nature within each of us, and thus the true meaning of peace. Enlightenment means understanding that our shared reality is not the physical body or personal character, but inner divinity, conscience, and soul. It is the realization that we are a manifestation of universal harmony itself. Enlightenment is peace. Enlighten men I is a choice. Therefore, peace is also a choice.
Since it is intangible, the only evidence of enlightenment is the change in our thoughts and actions. Enlightenment without action is meaningless. Enlightenment only matters when the principles of harmony and natural order become the basis for thoughts and actions expressed in the real world. Then personal desires will take a back seat to the collective good.
What fundamental change does enlightenment bring to our thinking and behavior? First, our life’s goal will shift from single-minded focus on material success to a desire to move toward completion or perfection. Second, control will no longer be the underlying basis of all human relationships. Mutual respect will stand in place of control. Third, the basis for our transactions will change from competition to cooperation. Fourth, our concept of ownership will change from that of possession to that of stewardship. Fifth, our concept of profit will shift to public benefit from personal gain. The basis for a society that considers enlightenment a matter of common sense, is the principles of harmonious living.
