For girls, starting puberty can be exciting at first. But for those who have symptoms of PMS every month, the novelty can wear off very quickly. <p>She should consider taking up yoga, of course! According to health blog FitSugar, this mind-body regimen can help alleviate some of the major symptoms of PMS.</p>
<p>Some girls experience painful cramps when they have their period because of muscular contractions in the uterus. However, physical activities, including yoga, can relax the pain away and get the heart pumping. This allows for the circulation of endorphins, which are the body&#039;s natural painkillers!</p>
<p>Better circulation can also increase the amount of oxygen that reaches the brain, which may help improve one&#039;s mood.</p>

The frightening thing about this condition is that it often shows no symptoms until a fracture occurs. <p>&quot;Osteoporosis is difficult to reverse. But building strong bones at a young age will lessen the effects of the natural bone loss that starts later in life,&quot; said family practitioner Nancy Gryniewicz-Sika, M.D., as quoted by The Doings Weekly health beat.</p>

Recently, researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles, discovered that this holistic healing technique may also be useful for caregivers who look after elderly loved ones.</p>
<p>&quot;We know that chronic stress places caregivers at a higher risk for developing depression,&quot; scientist Helen Lavretsky said. &quot;On average, the incidence and prevalence of clinical depression in family dementia caregivers approaches 50 percent. Caregivers are also twice as likely to report high levels of emotional distress.&quot;</p>
<p>In order to investigate how useful yoga can be to these people, her team experimented on 49 family caregivers, all of whom had relatives with dementia. Study participants were divided into two groups: one practiced yoga, while the other relaxed to instrumental music. These regimens lasted 12 minutes a day for eight weeks.</p>
<p>Ultimately, those who practiced yoga showed more significant improvements in depression symptoms.</p>

Such physically demanding work can be taxing on the body, increasing the risk for painful conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Patients often seek out a number of different pain management techniques.</p>
<p>The carpal tunnel is a structure made from bones and ligaments that houses the median nerve, which connects the palm of the hand to the brain. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when parts of this structure narrow or close in on this large nerve, creating pain in the various parts of the arm and hand.</p>
<p>No one knows what causes this condition, but scientists believe that some people are simply born with smaller carpal tunnels, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Injuries or fluid retention may also cause pain. It is still not clear if repetitive motions cause carpal tunnel syndrome, but certain jobs &#8211; especially those involving manual labor &#8211; are associated with the condition.</p>
<p>Fortunately, there are several ways to alleviate or prevent the pain.</p>
<p>&quot;Diuretics and corticosteroids can help relieve the pressure surrounding your median nerve. Exercises like wrist stretches or yoga may also help relieve the pain and strengthen the muscles to prevent further irritation,&quot; said a FOX News health column.</p>
<p>Nevada yoga classes can teach many of these holistic healing techniques. If manual laborers can&#039;t enjoy recognition in the spotlight, they at least deserve the best pain management techniques!</p>

This can cause them to eat dangerously low amounts of food, which may lead to fatigue, organ failure and other complications, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. However, the University of Nevada, Reno decided to tackle these issues with different events for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, including a session with breathing exercises for anxiety.</p>
<p>&quot;This week will focus on the ways we are all vulnerable to influence by the media, including social media, in its infiltration of our mental images of body and beauty, and how to counteract these influences and reduce the likelihood of the development of eating disorders,&quot; Meghan Eliopulos, marketing and admissions director for the Center for Hope of the Sierras, told&nbsp;the Reno Gazette-Journal.</p>
<p>Up to 10 million women and 1 million men in the U.S. are dealing with these issues, Eliopulos said. The event at the university included panel discussions and yoga to increase mind-body awareness.</p>
<p>People who are interested in what the holistic healing technique can do for them should look for a studio that teaches Dahn yoga exercises. These classes are sure to surround students with positive energy and a supportive community.</p>

This number is expected to grow to more than 145,000 by 2018. While these workers provide pain relief to clients, therapists themselves may be vulnerable to injuries from repetitive stress. Thankfully, yoga offers pain management techniques that may help avert these problems in the first place.</p>
<p>Massage Magazine recently wrote a book review of Yoga for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers. In it, author Karina Braun, L.M.T., R.Y.T., describes how performing barefoot massage caused injury to her body. Following her recover, she realized how valuable yoga can be to her fellow therapists.</p>
<p>&quot;As massage therapists and bodyworkers, we have to keep our bodies in top quality condition just like athletes. Even though we are not competing with another person, the work we do requires [the] proper body mechanics and alignment that yoga provides,&quot; Braun told the news source.</p>
<p>In her book, she states that yoga can help massage therapists integrate the mind-body connection, increase core strength and facilitate relaxing breathing. This can be important, considering that therapists rarely are able to afford sick days, she said.</p>
