Adding weights to yoga helps tone and stretch the body at the same time

Over the years, countless yoga practitioners have reported experiencing the benefits of the mindfulness regimen. In addition to improving mood, boosting strength and flexibility, enhancing mental well-being and toning the body, yoga has helped many people achieve personal growth. The exercise, which reforges the connection between the mind and the body, increases an individual's awareness of their breath, posture and energy flow through gentle poses and stretches that empower the muscles.

Recently, the London Evening Standard reported that incorporating weights into the tranquil regimen can help people sculpt their bodies even more thoroughly.

"It's good for people who know they need to weight train but perhaps prefer yoga or don't like gyms, because it combines the lot," said instructor Allie Hill, quoted by the news source. "So while you're holding a hip-flexor stretch, you might also be doing a bicep curl with weights. Or while in a downward dog, you'll also be pulsing one of your legs."

The class aims to tone and stretch the body at the same time, while simultaneously working the muscles and building core stability.
