Attending classes in yoga can help encourage selflessness among community members

Those who attend Dahn Yoga classes often report positive effects on their mental, emotional and physical well-being. Although the regimen can be performed almost anywhere – including the office, home or outdoors – many people prefer to practice the deep breathing techniques, postures and stretches in a large group. This offers them the chance of socialize and have fun while improving their mind-body connections.

The Daily Camera reports that one group of yoga enthusiasts in Boulder County, Colorado, recently gathered at a community center to engage in the exercise. The event not only encouraged them to seek tranquility and peace of mind through yoga, but also raised awareness about the needs of children in the local foster program.

Many of the students said that the mindfulness exercise helps promote selflessness and service for others.

"Find what it is you'd like to dedicate the fruits of your actions to today, and just hold that in your head," the instructor told the students, quoted by the news source.
