Busy workers can make time for yoga right at their desks

Many people find it difficult to balance life and work, particularly if they are stuck at their desks for long hours with little time to stretch or exercise. Sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time can be stressful and tiring, and these workers may benefit from engaging in yoga.

The beauty of the regimen is that its poses and breathing techniques can be performed anywhere, even at one's desk during a rare interlude in the work day.

The Times of India reports that simple stretches and postures can enhance an employee's mental, emotional and physical well-being. Additionally, many of these exercises do not require a great deal of time. Techniques such as wrist stretching, gently bending the neck to relieve tension and rotating the shoulders can be performed right at one's desk.

More involved poses – such as standing up and reaching for the ceiling, or kneeling and bending one's back to release anxiety – can be performed by simply getting out of one's chair and finding a little empty space in the office.

No matter what exercises an individual prefers, making time for soothing postures, deep breathing and meditating can make the work day seem more manageable.
