Yoga offers opportunity to contribute to the health of the community

People all around the globe have achieved personal growth through the relaxing practice of yoga. The Eastern art has taken the Western world by storm and is now a common fixture at many gyms and fitness studios around the country. Tens of thousands of Americans engage in the exercise in order to improve their mind-body connections, achieve tranquility and find relief from stress.

Although breathing techniques and postures may easily be performed at home, many people enjoy attending classes and learning the exercises with other enthusiasts. Doing so may also encourage them to give back to their communities.

The Times Call reports that Moriah Arnold, a practitioner in Boulder, Colorado, will be launching a yogathon on April 30 to raise awareness about the importance of foster care. The event will be an opportunity for many to step forward and pledge to advocate for local adoption programs.

"Yoga is not really about the exercises. It's about connecting with the breath so you can take care of your body, your mind and the people around you," Arnold told the news source. "It is about health, the health of the whole community."

  1. I think so too. Yoga is not really about the exercises. It’s about connecting with the breath so you can take care of your body, your mind and the people around you. Thanks.
