This finding was recently revealed by the American Psychological Association, who sponsored a paper in the journal American Psychologist.

For those who employ a mind-body strengthening regimen – such as Dahn Yoga – health can be optimized, according to lead investigator Roger Walsh and his colleagues. In turn, people who take steps to ensure their emotional and mental well-being can enjoy better relationships with the ones they love, greater productivity at work and increased contentment with life.

"Lifestyle changes can offer significant advantages for patients, therapists and societies, yet are insufficiently appreciated, taught or utilized," Walsh said. "In the 21st century, therapeutic lifestyles may need to be a central focus of mental, medical and public health."

For individuals who participate in practices such as Dahn Yoga, health benefits can be substantial. Deep breathing, quiet reflection and meditative postures can improve many aspects of well-being and enable them not only to achieve good health, but to maximize their potential as human beings as well.
