Ilchi Lee, creator of Dahn Yoga in North America and Dahnhak Kigong in Asia, sent a congratulatory message that was read to the 16,000 participants in the First International Dahnhak Kigong Competition of Sports for All, Jeju, South Korea, September 15, 2007. Here are excerpts from his message to the honored guests and participants in the Completion, read at the Opening Ceremony:
The First International Dahnhak Kigong Competition of Sports for All has great meaning in that it has gone beyond South Korea to become an international festival of Dahnhak Kigong shared with the peoples of the world. This is also a sign that the spirit of Hong-ik In-gan Ihwa Segye contained in Dahnhak – working to create a better world for the good of all – is spreading throughout the globe as a spirit of love for humanity and love for the Earth.
Humanity now faces a hopeless crisis of war, famine, and environmental destruction caused by slavish adherence to the interests of nation states and other institutions. Now more than ever the entire world needs a non-zero-sum philosophy of sangsaeng, of life for you and life for me, of mutual salvation. The answer can be found in the Chun Bu Kyung, an ancient statement of philosophy. The enlightenment that comes from the Chun Bu Kyung is found in the brain. This principle is the beginning of Brain Education.
Dahnhak is now a for-the-good-of-all Hong-ik philosophy shared by over a million people worldwide, and it is gaining the spotlight as an approach to mind-body training. Additionally, Brain Education is spreading with the University of Brain Education and International Brain Education Olympiad. Even the United Nations has officially recognizes its value. The Hong-ik Human Spirit and the philosophy of the Chun Bu Kyung are going out into the world through Dahnhak and Brain Education.
I pray that today’s tournament will be deeply meaningful for our fellow Dahnhak Kigong practitioners participating and for our honored guests from around the world. May health, happiness, and peace be with you always.
The Competition is divided into eight martial-arts fields during the September 15-16 event. The goals of the Competition include: Bringing together dedicated practitioners to celebrate the power and potential of Dahnhak Kigong for themselves and the world. Acknowledging through eight categories of competitive fields the world-class champions of Dahnhak Kigong. Highlighting the universal merits and applications of Dahnhak Kigong for the health, happiness and peace of all people on this Earth.

Ilchi Lee is the creator of Dahn Yoga in North America. Its Korean new roots are his Dahnhak Kigong, a martial arts sport popular in Asia. The origins of Dahnhak Kigong Training go back in Korean history more than 5,000 years. It began as a program to educate the public in how to develop both the body and mind. For 3,000 years the wise leaders of a Korean civilization saw to it that each generation practiced Kigong, a health-enhancing and self-empowering martial art. Then, 2,000 years ago, use of this traditional system declined in Korea. Dahnhak, the study of life-force energy, was developed by Ilchi Lee in 1982 to revive the ancient exercises for our modern life. Today, there are around 600 Dahn Centers around the world. Dahnhak Kigong rests on the philosophy that health-generating energy, or Ki connects the body and mind. This body-mind health connection is part of a larger belief in the unity or Oneness of invisible wisdom, visible Earth, and humanity. The Dahnhak Kigong method involves accepting and controlling Ki-energy through concentration, movements and breath.

Ilchi Lee, founder of Dahn Yoga, developed a subtle-yet-powerful new method of walking, which makes practitioners feel stronger, more confident and years younger. This walking method has roots in Eastern traditional health practices, and incorporates Western medical findings.
Scientific evidence has documented that regular walking can prevent or even reverse many diseases. Walking can lower blood pressure, increase bone density, and even expand the volume of brain tissue. It can also help promote weight loss, prevent diabetes or reduce its severity, lower cholesterol, moderate anxiety and depression, decrease colon and breast cancer risk, and relieve knee arthritis pain. Walking in a natural setting connects one to Nature, thereby reducing stress and heightening self-reflection. Jangsaeng Walking differs from regular walking in that it puts gentle pressure on the yong-chon energy/acupressure points. In Oriental health theory, these points are the start of the kidney meridian (energy channel), and directly related to kidney health. The method activates the power of your mind’s awareness, which has an enormous influence on the body and brain.

From July 25 to September 11, 2007, Ilchi Lee conducted a 14-city tour of the United States to share The Light of Tao workshop with advanced members of Brain Education. The dates of the tour are July 25 to September 11, 2007.
Ilchi Lee states that the purpose of the workshop is for the participants to gain more inner wisdom through energy capsule training, a new dimension of body-mind-spirit practice. From completing the three-hour workshop, the participants begin to recover their lost passion for life, meet with their souls, and experience the energy capsule of warmth, connectedness and peace.
At the start, Ilchi Lee teaches a practice for regaining life’s passion. The participants experience their hearts come alive. Next, he leads a practice for them to meet their true self. Finally, he conducts energy capsule training, enabling the participants to perceive the energy field outside of the body, thus helping it to heal itself from the inside out.

The 3rd International Brain HSP Olympiad and Brain Education Conference attracted 700 participants, many of them Dahn Yoga Center members, to the Best 5 Resort, Ellenville, NY, August 10-12, 2007.
In his Keynote Speech to the Brain Education Conference, Ilchi Lee focused on the unlimited potential of he human brain and how to use PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action) to make our dreams happen in reality. The huge problems facing us today include people losing their humanity and the Earth warming based in part on our civilization’s choices. The root of people enjoying health, happiness and peace lies in our global and local environment. But there are many signs that the Earth is become more ill. We must change our ways soon or the planet will not be able to recover and thus not sustain life. The environment will be saved only when all of civilization’s institutions commit to finding and implementing innovative solutions. The keys are to shift our perspective to Earth-centers and humanity-centered management and take action. In the end, the brain is responsible for all solutions and actions. Therefore, we need Brain Education.
To change the course for humanity and the Earth, we must think like management. We start by setting specific goals, including how many people should be involved and by when. Ilchi Lee envisions 100 million Earth Humans by 2010. Earth Humans have a strong Earth-centered and humanity-centered philosophy and passion for action taking. They would be the core thinkers and workers in spreading a movement worldwide that would change the agenda and reality of the quality of our lives and planet. Taking action means making plans and putting them into practice. This involves a mentality of being engaged in creation, and having the power to create. With our brains, we possess unlimited creative power. Each of us needs to grow it further inside of himself or herself. An excellent way to do this is to follow the PDCA process – taking action that get results. Plan, Do and Check are the build up, but Action is the key. Do and Action are different: Do is a test that one must Check; Action is only genuine when it produces positive results. We all must utilize our brains more fully, and develop our creative power until our results change the world for the better.

Ilchi Lee, along with Oscar Arias Sanchez, President of the Republic of Costa Rica and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, were Co-presidents of the 3rd International Brain HSP Olympiad and Brain Education Conference, at Best 5 Resort, Ellenville, NY, August 10-12, 2007. The 700 participants included renowned scientists, government officials, educators, parents and children from five countries. The brain-focused, international Olympiad and Conference demonstrated and advanced the utilization of the human brain for the purposes of creativity, productivity and peace.
At the Opening Ceremony, Ilchi Lee declared the brain to be the final frontier of the 21st century. Human civilization has been the product of the infinite creativity of the human brain. But most people do not know how to use their brain’s full potential. We are facing a historical crisis in which most people have lost their humanity by not properly using their brain. Now more than ever, we need a new awareness of the brain. This Olympiad is held to widely communicate the value of the brain and the development of new approaches to Brain Education.
According to Ilchi Lee, focusing on the brain in education is the key to achieving real progress for humanity and the Earth. The ability of the brain to be highly creative is dormant in all of us. The focus needs to shift from what is in the brain to how it can be developed and utilized. Brain Education is an opportunity for humanity to step forward into a new era, where we are concerned with the integrative thinking of Brain Management and Earth Management. Each person’s brain has the power that created our impressive civilization. The brain is the human body’s only component where matter contains spirit. This Olympiad is opened to awaken the awareness of the infinite creative power of the brain for the benefit of all humanity.
